Positive Inkers February Blog Hop.... sale a bration

Monday, February 1, 2021
Hey y'all!
Happy February.... can you believe that it's February??? On one hand it feels like it was just yesterday that we had February 2020 and on the other it seems like it was a million life times ago.

As a school teacher in a public school, I measure time based on school events. Usually January and February are high flu illness months, with lots of green snotty noses and coughing. Last year our school even closed for 4 days due to flu absences! This year.... I'm not seeing the green snot (sorry to those with a week stomach- teaching pre k is not for the faint lol). I'm not seeing the cough (ok you can't see it but I'm not hearing it either!). And the kids are defiantly at school every day. No snow or ice here yet either to break up the overcast, cold, never ending days.

But some how February is here. It came. I'm reminded of the Grinch as he sat watching and waiting to see how the who's were going to react to Christmas not arriving. But just like in the movie... it came anyway. So here we are starting February and crawling closer and closer to the one year mark. (Our mark here is March 13. ) When I started to think about my cards/ projects for this month's blog hop I wasn't sure exactly what to do. I mean I could totally rock some Valentine themed cards from the Sale-a-bration brochure. But that defiantly isn't fitting my current mood.

After much thinking and going back and forth, I started with a stamp set- Heal Your Heart. This is a BEAUTIFUL set that I honestly think you need. The greetings really fit the cards that I seem to be sending right now.  I especially love the "I can't promise to always fix your problems, but I can promise you won't ever face them alone." That kind of sums up everything right now.

After deciding on my stamp set, I needed "images" or "pattern paper" to build my card with. I love the Paper Blooms DSP from the Sale-a-Bration brochure.  I wanted to make lots of these cards to send out this week, so I grabbed the Sheet Load of Cards sketch from January 2021 and got to making (there is a process video below of me making a set of these cards).

Here are the 3 designs that I made with the sketch. Now let's dive in and look at each card close up.

Details for today's card

One of my favorite things about using a Sheet Load of Cards sketch is that Alecia (the creator) gives you a cutting guide to follow. I was able to cut out and prep to make 2 sets of this card for a totally of 18 cards in minutes!

I used Night of Navy and Rococo Rose Cardstock along with Basic White on all of the cards. I picked 3 of the patterns from the Paper Blooms DSP (a Rococo Rose flower print, the Pear Pizzaz stripe, and one of the darker Night of Navy background flower papers).

After cutting all the papers according to the guild, I backed all the pattern papers on to their matching Night of Navy mat.  Then I simply mixed and matched to make mini card kits. This made assembling the cards go faster, which I didn't figure out until the second set lol.

On the Night of Navy cardstock flag, I added an embossed image from the Greenery Embossing Folder. I really felt like it needed something, but you have to be careful with all the patterns too. It can get way overwhelming. The subtle nature of embossing is perfect for this situation.

For the Basic White panel, I used the flowers from Pretty Perennials and the greeting from Heal Your Heart stamp sets. The sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy and the flowers are Rococo Rose. My final step was to add some Basic Rhinestones to the cards. I really love these cards and can't wait to mail them out this week. I hope that they are a pick me up to everyone who gets one.

The rest of the Positive Inkers team has created BEAUTIFUL cards to insprire you. Hop on to see what Anne Marie has created for you!
